With other fives shades in the line of the Maybelline Clear Smooth All-in- One Powder; Toffee, Caramel, Nutmeg, Cinnamon and Mocha, I was so intrigued particularly by the cacao sensation and curious to test it on my face and share my personal review on it.
Whilst many may argue that my shade is not the Cacao, perhaps a 'toffee' or anything slightly lighter - even rightly so, but as a contouring 'tool', it is near permissible.
So after a frantic search, I ended up picking two off a Tara outlet somewhere about Allen Avenue, for myself and my makeup Artist. (I am that cool, right!?)
It is important to say that I had the Cacao applied on 2 different successive days and 3 different applications. Upon 1st application, we noticed it was very dark. But I can say, we gladly found a trick around it, which is to apply very lightly and not generously as though we were rubbing a moisturizer on. With a 'lighter hand' upon 2nd application, it was seemingly perfect... and we got some desirable results.
What I love the most about the cacao powder is that it doesn't feel heavy on my skin or artificial on the overall; it felt very natural for shading. It was soft on my skin and blended really well into my foundation. And oh! it smells really good.
This is why I insisted on the use of the cacao on my face at the photo shoot of the maiden edition of my official e-newsletter "eikōn" the following day. Pictures from this steamy photoshoot with vintage personality and classic photographer extraordinaire, Paul Ukonu, will be released soon.
